Well I finally got my dining room painted. I had decided to go with a faux chair rail. A chair rail gives a room a "classy" look, but since i live in an apartment I didn’t want to invest much time or money into something I may not be living in for a long time. I came up with an alternative to a real chair rail, which is creating the look of a chair rail by using paint. I think it came out pretty good for it being my first time doing something like this. It wasn’t too hard, really. I just used painter’s tape and 3 different paint colors.
Because my walls have texture, I knew that the paint would seep under the tape a little bit and cause an uneven line. So what I did was painted over the painter’s tape with white latex paint and let it dry. This created a sort of "seal" and would ensure that once I painted he other colors they would not be able to seep underneath because the white paint on top of the tape created the seal. After I painted the top half one color and the bottom half another, I let the paint dry and then I removed the painter’s tape.

Although it turned out really good, the problem was that I needed to touch up a few spots and I had run out of paint. I decided to go back to Wal-Mart where I got the first bit of paint and it wasn’t exactly the right color. I know, that’s what I get for buying paint from Wal-Mart. Anyway, after I realized that particular color wasn’t the same, I decided to go to a different Wal-Mart. They mixed some paint for me using the correct color swatch, but i was also too light. After it dried there was a slight difference in the color so there were little marks on the wall of a lighter shade. I wasn’t pleased. I decided to try one more time before repainting the entire area. The third time is the charm, as they say! The final time I went to get the paint mixed, it was actually done correctly and matched the original paint.
Over Spring Break I’m going to paint the hallway with the faux chair rail and I’m going to paint the living room a vanilla color with a bright white trim. I think that will look nice.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Being that my son and I bother suffer from acid reflux, I usually end up spending quite a bit of money on prescription medication. But I just learned about a prescription plan at Walgreen’s that could possibly save me quite a bit of money each month. The Walgreens Prescription Savings Club is only $35 a year for a family membership that will cover anyone in your immediate family. So you’re husband or wife, your children under the age of 22 and even your pets! I have two bunnies and I think that having a prescription plan for your pets is amazing!
Even if you don’t have a family, and you’re single, you can still take advantage of this deal. They offer an individual plan for only $20 a year. Some of the benefits of their prescription plan include saving money on over 8,000 name brand medications and saving money on all generic medications. You can get discounted flu vaccines, diabetic supplies and nebulizer. Again, my favorite part of this deal is the fact that you can get discounts on pet prescriptions!
If you’d like to keep up with deals and special promotions I would suggest that you check out Walgreens on Twitter. They include helpful hints and what’s good for sore throats, headaches, and the common cold among other things. You can also check out Walgreens on Facebook if you use Facebook.

I finally broke down and chose the paint colors for my dining room. I’ve been wanting to make some changes for quite some time but it’s been hard to decide exactly what I wanted to do because of the restrictions of living in an apartment. I originally wanted to install chair rail in my dining room, but after giving it some thought I decided that it would not be cost effective and it would also be a hassle to remove when I decided to move.
I decided to go with a faux chair rail. By that, I mean I’m going to do the walls in a two-tone, with the bottom half being a slightly darker shade than the top and just use painters tape to paint a white horizontal stripe around the room to make it have the appearance of a chair rail. I’ve looked at numerous tutorials on the web and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be too difficult. The only issue I think I’m going to have is trying to get the painter’s tape perfectly straight.
