Anyway, I’m about done with the first book in the A Song Of Ice And Fire series that Cetta got me. It’s not bad at all, really. It took a little time to get into it, like it kind of had a slow start but it’s getting better.

Anyway, I’ve been working on some brushes and hopefully I’ll have them up soon. I got an email the other day from someone saying they really loved the brushes I made and when was I going to make some more. It’s really nice when I get feedback on that kind of stuff, because I don’t do it very often and I don’t even pay attention to what people are downloading or if they are. But yeah, I’ll have some new stuff up soon.

Other than that my day has been mostly uneventful. (It was Sunday afterall.) Tomorrow Eric goes back to school, since he’s been home for Winter break for 2 weeks, one of which he spent with the grandparents, but still. Even though I’ve been cleaning like crazy, it’s impossible to keep the place totally clean with him home all day.

Anyway, I don’t really have any plans for New Year’s. I haven’t had any plans in a very long time, due to not having much of a life. I’ll probably just spend the evening with my son like every year and watch the fireworks and what not. It’s fun, though, and he enjoys the fireworks so it’s fine with me. I’m getting old anyway. I would much rather sit around my house in my pajamas and slippers sipping some hot cocoa and watching fireworks on tv than being out partying and getting wasted anyway.

Speaking of getting wasted, I hope anyone reading this decides to be safe this year and refrain from drinking and driving. Designate a driver or call a cab. I mean, if you don’t care enough about yourself to not get behind the wheel intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, at least consider that you are putting other people’s lives in danger as well. Who wants that on their conscience?

Anyway, to make matters even more complicated, Chris had paid for the order because of a discount that he was able to take for using his paypal account to pay, and I was to reimburse him the amount that he had to pay. Well, after we thought the package came on Thursday and was stolen, Chris contected Walmart.Com and told them we did not recieve the package and they issued a full refund for the purchase price and shipping of the item. So he got his money back for it.. but then he told me he still expected me to pay him for it. I got really heated over this and called him a greedy cheapskate. I just don’t feel that I should have to pay him for something just because, when he didn’t end up having to pay for it to begin with. I dunno, maybe I shouldn’t have gotten so upset about the whole thing, but honestly I have been doing alot to help him out lately with his money situation and I honestly feel that it’s pretty dick to want me to pay HIM when the item was basically free. Whatever, it’s not that big of a deal but it really upset me. I felt like he was being greedy because like I said, I’ve been helping him out, and I honestly just felt like it was a slap in the face. Nothing ever seems good enough. It’s frustrating.

At least I ended up getting the item. Heh. Oh, and Eric got a Nintendo DS for Christmas and the MarioKart DS game. With that particular game you are able to connect and play against another player even if they don’t have the MarioKart DS game. So we were able to play a few rounds against each other. It was actually very fun.

Anyway, on December 23rd I track the package from Barnes and Noble and it says that it won’t be delivered until December 29th. I call UPS and they explain some crap about their holiday shipping schedule and that I need to take it up with the shipper because it wasn’t coming until the 29th. I got very upset at this point, but then on the morning of the 24th I tracked it again and it said “Out for delivery”. Yay! Things seemed to be working out. I went to track my shipment from Walmart, and it said that the package was being delivered by FedEx and was guaranteed to arrive by 4:30. Walmart.Com only gave me 1 tracking number at this point so I assumed both items were in one package. I wait and 4:30 comes and goes… at 5:30 I tracked the package again and saw that it said “delivery exception” on it. I called FedEx and was informed that bad weather kept the plane containing my package from taking off on time and it was not going to be delivered. He said it was at the local FedEx location if I wanted to go pick it up. They closed at 6. I had to hurry! I got there 5 minutes before closing only to be told that the packages weren’t even sorted yet and that I’d have to come back another day. I was visibly upset so the FedEx lady said she’d go see if she could find it. After waiting about 20 minutes she came back with the package and I was thrilled until I realized that only the book was in it. I was confused.

I drove home and was telling Chris how I didn’t understand why the other item wasn’t included because I was only given one tracking number. Well, guess what I saw hanging on my door when I got back from the FedEx facility? A freaking FedEx door tag saying “Sorry We Missed You!”. It didn’t say anything except that it was the first delivery attempt and the date so I assumed that the package would be re-delivered. I had to get ready to go to my mom’s though so I didn’t really have time to worry about it. I was pretty pissed at my bad luck, being that I went up there to get the damn package and then they came and delivered one while I was gone. What are the odds of that happening? I didn’t even know that they were coming in two seperate packages. Thanks Walmart, I love how informative your website is. Really.

Anyway right before I left to go to my mom’s I decided to check the tracking on that door tag to see what it said. I don’t know what made me check it, but I felt like it I guess. Well, when I tracked the package, this is what I saw:

Okay, no. There was no package left on my front porch and the door tag didn’t even state the package was left. I checked the back porch thoroughly as well, and it was not there either. This means that either 1. the FedEx delivery person made a mistake and didn’t actually leave item because it was not indicated on the door tag or 2. The FedEx driver didn’t leave the package, but jacked it instead and that’s why they didn’t indicate that it was left on the door tag OR, and I’m going with this theory 3. some jackass saw the package sitting on my front porch and in the 25-30 minutes that I was gone they stole it. What are the odds that while I’m at the FedEx facility picking up the package that I thought they weren’t able to deliver, FedEx would actually deliver it to my home and it would get jacked right at the same exact time that I was gone? I have the worst luck I swear. Anyway, this made me irate. I mean, anyone who lives around me knows I have a child, and it was Christmas Eve. So it’s safe to assume that whatever was in that package was more than likely a gift, and even more probable that it was a gift for my child. So some asshole stole from my son, and probably knowing it was a child’s Christmas present too. People can be so messed up sometimes. I swear.

It took me awhile to get over the whole thing because honestly that was the main reason I had waited for that damn package. The book I could have picked up on Christmas Day because FedEx was open for 4 hours on Christmas Day, and my cousin wasn’t coming until the evening. I had wanted that other item to put under the tree for Eric to open on Christmas morning. Whatever, though, he had a good Christmas and it didn’t bother him that the gift got jacked because he didn’t even know about it in the first place.

So yea, that’s how my Christmas Eve went. I don’t have anything to complain about really, except for the $29.99 that was lost when the package was stolen, but you can bet that either Walmart or FedEx is going to replace the item or give me the money back. That’s for damn sure. >;]

The struggle to get all four twilight books for my cousin was also well worth her reaction when she opened them. She was close to tears, which made me feel good inside. She said that was the best gift she got this Christmas. I don’t get to see her but once or twice a year anymore, which makes me really sad because before 2005 when they moved far away I got to see her and my aunt every single day. I miss them alot.

I also got quite a few things that I really liked this year. I didn’t expect anything, really, but it’s still nice to get gifts isn’t it? My mom got me some fluffy slippers (which is funny because I was just going to buy some, my feet get really cold) a really cool picture frame, a foot massager, a shirt, and a few other nice things. I honestly think the homemade gift she made was better than the store bought items. My mom puts alot of time into making something for her family each year, and this year she made everyone some homemade hot cocoa and put it in a jar that she decorated herself. She also included 2 coffeemugs in with the cocoa. Eric and I drank some on Christmas morning. It’s yumz. Eric got me a little book light, which is really cool. I’m also getting all 4 twilight books and the entire Friends series on DVD from Chris. I haven’t gotten them yet, but I’m kind of excited to get them because to be perfectly honest.

Anyway, all in all we had a pretty great time but I’m glad that it’s over for another year. Eric can spend the rest of his winter break enjoying his new toys and things, and I can relax and read the book that “Santa” brought me.

Anyway, I’m patiently waiting for the books to ship but to be completely honest I want them now. I’ve already read the first two books in the series and they were both awesome. I can’t wait to read the last two. I also have a couple of other books coming that I’ve had my eye on, thanks to Chris…

Well to change the subject, I stepped into no man’s land today AKA my son’s bedroom. Man it was such a wreck I just went through it with a trash bag and started tossing stuff. Nothing good, he seems to like to save every bit of school work, every drawing, and every piece of scrap paper he’s ever come in contact with. It drives me nuts. I hope he’s not going to be one of those obsessive compulsive hoarding type of people.

But anyway, I have to go finish cleaning his room. I had to take a break because I’d been in there for awhile. It’s getting there, though.
