Okay, well I finally broke down and upgraded wordpress to 2.8. I noticed a few changes but otherwise other than a few security issues there is no real difference. What I did notice that is way different than older versions of wordpress is the option to upgrade wordpress right from the admin panel. I LOVE that. I had a way outdated version on one of my other blogs and I actually had to manually upgrade using an ftp client and when I did that I replaced the functions.php file and the templates.php file and totally messed up the way I had things set up. It didn’t take me too long to fix but it was still kind of a hassle.

On here, when I upgrade wordpress I usually have to always go rewrite the functions.php file to allow my own custom smilies to be displayed. I would just save the file but with every upgrade, new functions are added so I can’t do that. Anyway this time, since I was able to upgrade right from the admin panel itself I didn’t have to do anything or change anything. I still have to fix the damn smilies though. My other blogs are kinda of a hassle but I’m getting there. At least next time I upgrade any of them I’ll be able to do it right from inside wordpress.

Speaking of smilies, though. I noticed the other day that one of my smilies was missing. The kiss smiley is nowhere to be found. I either forgot to upload it or forgot to write it in functions.php. Either way, LAME. I have to redo all of it now anyway.
