Hey everyone. How familiar are you with XML, XQuery or DB2? The reason I bring it up is because I wanted to share with you all a contest that IDUG is sponsoring. The contest is divided into five separate tracks based upon different skill levels. You can enter one track of the contest or all five. Let me break them down for you so you know exactly what each level of the contest is all about. There’s a video contest where all you need to do is upload a video showing yourself making creative use of XML, XQuery or DB2. Pretty simple, huh? Well, then there’s the gadget contest. You’ll need to develop a downloadable widget or gadget leveraging DB2. Both of these chalennges have prizes awarded monthly and are judged by the community. I think my favorite part of this IDUG contest is the XQuery challenge. All you need to do is answer five questions by developing queries in XQuery. The best queries win the best prizes. The next level of the contest is the Port an Application challenge. Port an existing application to use XML, XQuery or DB2. You can enter this track individually or set up a team. Last but definitely not least is the Develop an Application challenge. You’ll be required to develop a new application using XML and/or XQuery and have your application judged by a panel of judges. A special prize is given to the contestant that gets the most participation points, too. So what are you waiting for? Visit XMLChallenge.Com for more details and to enter the contest. Good luck!
