Walmart Pt 1 (Why I Don’t Shop At Walmart)

I used to work at Walmart. This was a long time ago, back when I barely had any work experience and just needed any old job to pay the rent. Basically, this was before Eric, cause God knows there’s no way you can support a kid on a walmart paycheck. That’s a whole different subject I might write about another time, though. Anyway, so I used to work at Walmart, and I also used to shop there on a regular basis up until about 5 years ago. I shopped there for the same reasons everyone else shopped there. Prices were usually lower at Walmart than any other store.
Well, in recent years I’ve stopped shopping at Walmart for various reasons. One being that since they put in nothing but Super Centers everywhere, the stores have become overcrowded, dirty, and smelly. I also always see fruit flies flying everywhere around the produce and an odor like rotten fruit or vegetables coming from that area. It’s a sweet kind of odor. Anyone who’s smelled it knows what I’m talking about. Those aren’t the main reason I gave up my Walmart shopping habits, though. The main reason is the white trash, rude, and unhappy people they employ. I mean, these people obviously really hate their jobs. They never want to help you, are visibly annoyed when you actually request their help, avoid eye contact for fear that you might actually need something, and always have a foul look on their faces. It pisses me off to the point that I refuse to shop there unless I absolutely have to. Like I said, I used to work there, so I kind of understand. That’s why I quit my Walmart career. (lol @ walmart career) Seriously, if you hate your job that much, then find another one.
Anyway, I actually went to Walmart last week because I wanted to get my son an MP3 player and they supposedly had the exact one I wanted to get him. Turned out they didn’t but since I was already there I ended up getting him one from there anyway. It’s a nice one, so I am happy with the purchase overall, but I was reminded why I hate shopping at Walmart once again. These people loathe their jobs.
Then I remembered something… I remembered how shitty management is. I remembered exactly why I quit when I worked there some 10 years ago. I remembered how unhappy I was because I worked 12-13 hours a day without being given a proper lunch break, or how even though I worked 15-20 hours a week overtime I was refused overtime pay. I remembered how I was threatened if I didn’t come in on my off day that I’d be fired. So, yeah I understand hating your job. I understand it, but if you hate it that much then GET THE FUCK OUT. It’s not going to get better. Walmart is fueled by greed. They will continue to underpay their employees. They will continue to treat their employees like garbage. Plain and simple.
It all boils down to this. Walmart treats their employees like crap. They in turn treat the customers like crap because they are miserable and hate their jobs. The customers overlook it usually because Walmart is cheap. (Well they were cheap, but that again is a different post altogether.) I just got tired of overlooking it.
That’s why I shop at Target.

That’s really bad management yes. I haven’t noticed people being angry or hating their jobs at my walmart though, or a bad smell in the foods. Guess things depend on location too.
