I Can’t Stop Cleaning

Why am I up at this hour when I have a birthday party to deal with tomorrow? I have OCD, that’s why. It’s annoying as hell, to be quite honest, but I deal. The culprit behind my ocd is my beautiful red microfiber sofa. Chris got me the sofa for Christmas last year. It took me forever to pick it out, because I wanted it to be perfect. It was perfect and I love it, but I’m beginning to think that it might not have been such a wise idea to get red microfiber with a kid like Eric around. He’s a typical boy, no big deal, but boys are messy as hell. I spent severe hours cleaning the sofa the other day. There were a ton of little spots here and there, and scrubbing, blotting and drying each little spot took a very long time. I got it done, though. Well, yesterday my son accidentally dropped a big thing of pencil shavings from his pencil sharpener all over the sofa. If you know anything about microfiber, you know that everything in the world sticks to it and pencil shavings are no exception. They were so hard to get off, but after a couple of hours I managed to get the cushions clean again. After that, though, I took a long look around my living room and decided that if I’m going to spend this much time on the sofa I should go ahead and clean everything else from top to bottom. So that’s what I’ve been doing with my night. I did laundry, I bleached the kitchen counters, I dusted everywhere and I’m about to go mop the floor and clean up Eric’s mess on the dining room table and then perhaps I’ll be able to sleep. Man, I hate OCD.

I would be OCD over something I picked out so carefully as well.

I am very OCD too so I can relate to freaking out and having to clean everything. I used to want a red microfiber couch as well that I saw at IKEA – sounds like it’d be too frustrating to keep clean though
