Guns N Roses has finally released a new single. Well, it’s not exactly Guns N Roses, considering the only original member of the band still there is Axl Rose, but still. They haven’t released anything new since 1999, so I thought I’d give a listen and see if they are living up to the hype. The song is called Chinese Democracy and you can have a listen right now.
Anyway, I don’t really like it at all. I mean it sounds kinda like Guns N Roses because of Axl Rose and his very distinctive voice, but the music isn’t what it could be. Also, considering the fact that I used to like GnR when I was a teenager, I think I’ve simply just outgrown them. This doesn’t appeal to me at all. I’m sure there will be a ton of people who absolutely love it, and I’d have probably loved it 10 years ago but it’s not 10 years ago and I’m not digging it in the least. I don’t really even like Velvet Revolver which was basically all of the former members of Guns N Roses minus Axl, with Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland. I loved STP, and I think Slash is one of the best guitarists ever in the history of all guitar players but Velvet Revolver just didn’t do it for me just like Guns N Roses ain’t doing it for me.
It’s music like this “Chinese Democracy” crap that makes me miss the 90s.
