Dumb Internet!

My internet was down all day long, until around midnight. Being an internet addict, this was not cool for me at all. The funny thing is I just blogged about how I’m catching up on site related stuff, and entrecard and yada yada yada. Since the hurricane knocked out much of the power, phone and cable lines in our city and surrounding areas we’ve all had to wait patiently for things to get back to normal. I’m thinking that’s why my internet has been so intermittent lately. I mean it goes on and off, on and off, all day long so if I’ve got something to write up, or something to do I end up doing it in notepad and saving it until my internet is up so I can hurry up and c&p it to wordpress or wherever. It’s frustrating, but it’s the best I can do for now.
Anyway, the way our internet is set up in my apartment is kind of annoying. I have a wireless adapter on my computer in my room because they couldn’t run the cable line in here. My apartments are pretty strict about stuff like that, and their rule is if an outside line has to be ran, then it’s not happening. So, we either had to set up the internet in my son’s room or the living room. I opted for Eric’s room because then I wouldn’t have to buy two wireless adapters. We were able to run a cable line in his room because the wall that the cable is on in the living room is opposite his room and they just drilled a hole in the wall and put a splitter in, so no outside line had to come in. Anyway, so we have the cable modem, router, and phone set up in his room. I went in there and messed with the crap several times and it just would not work. It would come on and go right back off. Well around midnight, my little brain decided to start functioning I guess.. and I figured I’d try cloning the mac address, though I’d never had to do so before. Guess what? It worked. I am unsure if this is coincidence or my own stupidity, but either way, I’m back in business.

Well I’m glad you figured out a way to make it work. That sucks that your apartments have such rules about outside lines.
It works intermittently. But whatever. I’m going to cancel this crap if it keeps up.
