One Of The Buildings In My Complex Burned Down

We’re still feeling the effects of Hurricane Ike, even almost two weeks later. This morning they started fixing the apartment building next door where the side of the building had been ripped off and the windows shattered. They kinda woke me up early, but I didn’t mind because I’m glad they are fixing it. It doesn’t look too good right now, and I really want things back to normal.
After we got settled in and everything we went around to survey the area and found out that after the electricity finally came back on here a fire started in one of the apartments about five buildings over from us. I guess it was from a short or something, or a power surge? I’m not exactly sure, but it started as soon as the electricity came back on so it had to have something to do with it. Anyway, the entire building burned down. No one died in the fire, which is good. The building though, makes the apartments look even more crappy than they already look thanks to Ike.

This complex used to look pretty. Now it looks terrible. Even still, I know I’m one of the lucky ones and I’m glad for the fact that my son and I still have a home. It’s just sad to see how this hurricane has wrecked our city. I’m seriously considering moving when I can because I’m just getting fed up with the hurricanes, evacuations, and worrying about it every year.

Those poor people! Still, no one was hurt, which is the upside. Glad you and your son are okay.
Must be good to be back home, right? I hope everything will be back to normal 100% soon. Here in Manila, we are having typhoon after typhoon. Thank goodness the area we live in is in high ground so we are not experiencing floods.
Come to my blog, there’s a Brilliant Weblog giftie for you.

That’s so scary that the building burned down. So lucky it wasn’t your’s. I think you should move to Katy, we barely got any of it, cause we’re so far from the coast, and then you’d be closer to me. So there. It’s settled.
