More On Blogger Etiquette – This Is Really Annoying!!!!!!

I recently wrote a small article on practicing good blogger etiquette. Well, this morning while I was happily listening to Drowning Pool and doing my entrecard drops, I was reminded of something else that should have been on that list of 10 ways to practice good blogger etiquette. Do not have music start automatically playing as soon as your website or blog loads. Come on people. This is so freaking rude and annoying. I won’t mention the website that caused such an annoyance, but I will say that it was gospel music. I have nothing against gospel music but when I’m sitting here rocking out to Let the Bodies Hit the Floor and all of a sudden there’s also gospel music playing, my rocking out experience gets put on hold while I try to figure where in the world this other music is coming from. See, I had a good 15 sites loaded and I had to go searching. This was not cool. I’m sure everyone will agree with me on this one, because most of us listen to music while we sit at our pc and I just don’t think we should be forced to listen to some music we don’t really want to hear or like while we are browsing someone’s website. Put an option to play, pause, or stop if you must have music playing on your website. That is not good blogger etiquette. Show some consideration for your readers. Thank you.

I agree wholeheartedly, unfortunately this is one aspect of MySpace that has made it onto the wider web.
Although I am thankful that audio ads have not taken off to the same degree. Quite a few blogs seem to have experimented with them and then stopped using them.
Thanks for your comment!
I don’t mind the music, I just think it’s inconsiderate to force it upon your visitors, you know? Give them the choice.. that’s all I’m saying. It’s only right.
I agree too! lol It scares me when im not expecting, then i feel dumb.
yea, there are blogs with music playlists. i just don’t put my headset on when i do blog hopping.
I almost always listen to music while I’m at my computer, so not being able to listen to it while I “blog hop” would kind of ruin it for me.
I want to try the proper etiquette so that people wont hate me.. thanks for that.. hehe
I’m sure people won’t hate you even if you don’t practice proper etiquette.
LOL! I remember when I used to have music on my site. That was years ago. It is very annoying to try to find the site it’s coming from. I hate that!
It’s one of the most annoying things a blogger can do, in my opinion.
Hahaha, I hate that SO much. Most of the time I just close out of the website and never go back!!
Exactly, same here. What a way to lose visitors.
I’ll admit…i used to do that. Until one day the same exact thing you’re talking about happened to me and I realized it just wasn’t such a good idea LOL I feel dumb LOL
I’m gonna read your “Blogger Etiquette article now
I’m not saying “Don’t put music on your website or blog.” But if you must have a music player, give people the option to start it on their own.. having music play when the page loads is just ridiculous.
Oh gawd yes that one is so annoying. That’s why I keep my speakers on mute. I just can’t browse and listen to music at the same time because people’s sites are just obnoxious. And scare the crap out of you when something starts out of nowhere.
