Am I Normal Or Nuts?

As human beings, we all have our weird quirks or habits we consider strange. Most of the time we like to keep what we consider bad or odd habits to ourselves as not to be judged. The thing is, everyone of us has “issues”, some are less serious than others, and some probably require professional attention. Do you ever just wonder “Are You Normal or Nuts?” I wonder all the time whether I’m crazy or not. But then I read about some other people who have some strange quirks also, and it makes me feel a little better about my own. Some of what I read made me laugh, but some of the stuff is really serious and could pose as a problem to a person’s life or well-being. Of the different “quirks” I read about in the article Are You Normal or Nuts?, I find myself most relating one where the person has a problem speaking in public or talking on her cell phone in public for fear of sounding stupid. I absolutely cannot talk on my cell phone in public places, especially small places, but for a different reason. I’m just afraid people are listening to me. I don’t like to be listened to. Maybe it’s me being paranoid, but it’s just how I am. Another thing I can relate to is the one where the person has trouble concentrating. I have trouble sometimes concentrating. If I’m on the phone, and my son is talking to me at the same time, I can zone both conversations out and totally not hear anything anyone is saying. I sometimes just space out and forget parts of conversations or events. Doctors suggest it’s some form of anxiety or depression. I’ll go with the former, and agree that I do have anxieties, and I do seek professional help for them. Like I said, some of these issues are pretty serious, and others are just funny. A couple of them made me laugh. They say that laughter is the best medicine, anyway. Maybe we could all use a little laugh. When I was younger I used to read the Reader’s Digest humor sections and they’d make me giggle. I should start reading again now that the funny stuff is available on the web. If you’re feeling stressed out, or your “issues” are starting to bring ou down, check out Reader’s Digest Laughs for some great humor that might take your mind of things for a little while. It’s not therapy, but it’ll probably give you a giggle and make you feel a little better.
