You Must Be Registered???

“You must be logged in to post a comment.” Are you serious? Do you know how annoying it is to read a blog all the way through only to realize the person who created the blog wants you to register just to be able to leave a comment? Ok, granted, it is the right and prerogative of the website owner or author of said blog to only allow comments from registered users, but if that’s the case.. why do you even allow your blog to be read by the public at all? If you only want feedback from registered users, then why not make it so only people who have a password may view your posts? You want visitors, you want traffic, yet readers have to register in order to be able to leave feedback. That is so incredibly rude in my opinion. If you are concerned with spam, or people leaving rude comments Wordpress has a moderation panel so that you can moderate any comment that is left on your site. And there are so many different ways to avoid spam comments now, my favorite being Akismet, that I just don’t see why you even have this feature turned on. I for one will not register just to leave a comment on your website. I will more than likely not come back to your site again, as I see no point in it if I cannot leave feedback, and making people register just to comment on your site is just plain stupid. What are you afraid of anyway? Are you afraid that people won’t agree with your opinions? Are you worried that someone will say something that you don’t like or agree with, or are you scared of criticism? It’s got to be something like that. I welcome feedback, and comments on my website. Yes, they are moederated, but you do not have to be a registered member of my website or blog in order to post comments. I just don’t see the point in that at all. If you are one of those people who requires someone to register in order to comment, could you please explain this to me?

No kidding, that is so annoying. It’s like why bother blogging if you’re not going to let any new reader comment? Or at least be courteous enough to put a large visible note. People these days.

good point.I sorta agree, but overall people should turn the register thing off.
When i first set up my blog it was default, but after u told me you were having issues with it a month ago, i figured out how to do it. either way, i hate registering to read a damn blog lol. So i understand how you feel.
Yeah, see I won’t comment on a blog if I have to register, and I know I’m not alone so it’s obvious that these people are missing out on comments and feedback because of the whole “register to comment” crap.

I think registering could be open for “private” blogs, but what’s the point of blogging if the post is going to be private. I just dont really undertsnad
Well, wordpress gives the option to make posts private or password protected anyway. I really don’t get having to register to comment on a public blog, that’s all I’m saying. Akismet saved me, too. I don’t know what I’d do without it.
I don’t get the point either. I find it really annoying. I already spent time in reading their blog and now I have to spend more time just so I can comment

EXACTLY!! Hello!!! I read their blog and now in order to leave feedback I have to register?!?! I don’t think so.
I guess there are bloggers who are wary of the persons who will leave a comment hehe… Personally, I get discourage by the blogs that asks you to register or does not allow an option for you to leave your URL.
Well Sasha, if they are wary they can always make every post moderated. Cause if someone wants to leave a rude comment or something they can do it regardless. You know? I also do not like blogs that don’t allow you to leave your url. Where it says “email” I’ll put my URL in if they don’t have a spot for it. Cause Idk… isn’t that part of the whole point of commenting in the first place?
Registration = No Comments. It’s really that simple if you ask me.

Yea, too many people will not comment if you have to be logged in to comment. Its unnecessary these days with akismet and all the other spam fighting stuff too….
or even more frustrating being told you ahve to email them and seeing no email anywhere
If I have to register I don’t go back it is very frustrating
yeah i hate that…i wont comment if its up, im guilty of password protected ones, because of my mans jealous and sneaky family (including his ex)
