Be Considerate Of Your Visitors

The other day I was reading this girl’s blog and she said something about how the navigation on her new layout didn’t work too well with Firefox, but since she’s an I.E user she didn’t really care. I personally find that to be not only stupid, but rather rude. Why even have a blog if the only people who can view your layout and navigate your site are people who use the same browser as you? Do you really only care if you are the only person who can view your website? Why even have a blog then? Why have a spot for comments or anything? In my opinion, the only people who don’t make their websites compatible with at least most browsers are those who can’t. I mean if you can’t code it to work in other browsers, why not say so? When you act like you simply don’t care if your readers can view or navigate your site properly, you are basically saying “Fuck you, I don’t care if you come back to my site or not.” Well if that’s the case, don’t worry about your page rank, don’t worry about your Alexa score, and don’t worry about hosting anyone.. hell don’t worry about even blogging. If you don’t care about your readers, they aren’t going to give a shit to read your blog. Ninety Five percent of my readers use Mozilla, not I.E. This means that ninety five percent of the people who read my blog would not be able to navigate that girl’s site unless they load up I.E. I’m sorry, but do you really think you’re site is that great that people will actually load up another browser so they can view it properly? Granted, it is your website, and you don’t have to cater to your visitors.. but if you want them to come back, and you want a successful website then a little consideration is necessary.

I’m so with you. I would never switch browsers just to view some idiot’s site who can’t code for multiple browsers. I hated that for Despair when people’s sites wouldn’t load right.
Yeah.. it’s SO annoying and rude.
Just open up a wordpad and write if you couldn’t care less about people not being able to navigate on your blog.
Or she could go blog on InsaneJournal about it. (hint hint).
Haha.
There are inconsiderate bloggers out there who want to drive traffic to their site yet they don’t want to go out of their way to accommodate others. Mozilla is really bloggers’ preferred browser. And putting something like that (she doesn’t care about non-IE users) is really rude of her.
Agreed Sasha. Hope your weekend is going well.
Even though I never use IE, I do check to see if the changes I make to my blog works with that browser.
Maybe she is just young and didn’t think her comments all the way through. In due time when no one is visiting her blog maybe she will realize she needs to be more considerate of people.
I don’t use IE either, but I do make sure my website is at least presentable and can be navigated with ease through IE. She’s not really young, but I’m pretty certain she didn’t think through what she was saying before she said it.
