Top 20 Guitarist Poll

Tuesday morning I was listening to a local radio station (The Buzz) and they were talking about a poll that was taken in which 330 heavy metal guitarists were asked about their favorite guitarists of all time. The results of the pole are the top 20 guitarists of all time listed below in reverse order.

Of course Hendrix would be number 1 on that list. He’s number 1 on almost every list of top guitarists ever made, lol. I am quite surprised by some of these though, not that I think they suck or anything. I personally think Jeff Beck is way overrated, and although I love Metallica, I don’t think that James Hetfield belongs on this list at all. He’s got talent, but come on, putting him in the same list as Angus Young, Steve Vai, Tony Iommi and Dimebag? Hell no. I am pleased that Dimebag made this list, but I’d have to disagree with his placement. He should be way further down on that list! If it were up to me, he’d be number 1, without a doubt. Some people probably don’t think Eddie Van Halen should be #2. Come on, though, Eddie was one of the most talented, innovative guitarists of his time. I’m also glad to see Randy Rhoads in that list. For those of you who don’t know who Randy Rhoads is (are you kidding me?) he was the guitarist for Quiet Riot, and then later Ozzy Osbourne. It’s a shame 2 of my favorite guitarists of all time are no longer with us. Another one I’m definitely see make this list is Marty Friedman. I think he should have been a little further down on the list, cause let’s face it, he kicks major guitar ass. For the most part, I’d say this list is pretty damn accurate. Rock on.

While I haven’t heard of most of those, Hendrix is definitely a name associated with great guitarness.
Yea, I personally don’t like Hendrix that much. But that’s just cause I didn’t like his style of music. I do agree that he was talented. In case you can’t tell, this is one of my favorite music “genres”.

\m/ It’s a good list, I can’t argue. Well not that much and I may be bias for my Guns N’ Roses love, but man what about Slash? *sob* Since he is not, I’ll have to go with Angus. ;D
It is a good list, but you are definitely correct. Any greatest guitar player list without Slash in the top 5 is BS! ;P
