Update On My Internet Issues

Well, as anyone who reads my blog regularly knows, I am having issues with getting my new ISP set up. The service was supposed to be set up on Monday, but because the technician couldn’t get the signal from the inside line to the outside box, he said I had to schedule someone to come out and install a new phone jack. (This is the first time I have had regular phone service at this apartment, previously having had VoIP.) The guy who came out today couldn’t install a jack because the problem is not inside my apartment, it’s on the outside. The wire from the apartment to the actual box is what’s messed up and he couldn’t figure out why. Since I live in an apartment, they can’t run anything on the outside of the building without the apartment manager’s permissions. The guy went to speak to the manager and she wasn’t in, but the assistant manager said more than likely they would not allow it to be done, and the apartments would have to actually fix the line themselves. The assistant manager then called me back later with the “okay” to go ahead and have the line ran on the outside of my building because they do not have someone licensed to fix the phone lines internally and that’s where they think the real problem is. This is kind of strange to me, considering I live in a pretty nice apartment complex. I’m surprised they don’t have someone to deal with such issues, because a phone is a definite necessity in this day and age. Well, whatever, I called and the guy is coming back out tomorrow, so hopefully it’ll be fixed. The good news is, because the jacks inside are all working, I’m probably not going to be charged for this issue. So I may not be out another $120.00. Thank goodness! I really don’t have an extra 120 bucks to just toss around right now.
Anyways, I’ve got plenty of other stuff to say, but right now I need to go over my son’s spelling words with him. So I’ll get back to this later.

Especially when they charge you astronomical amounts of money for one little thing.
Well that’s a lot of hassle for the apartment complex to okay the outside phone line. But that’s good that you probably won’t have to pay for it. Yay for hopefully having working internet soon.
What the hey!?! If you live in a nice complex and considering how people are about having to have a phone and the internet this really surprises me that the issue hasn’t already been addressed by another tenant. At least it’s not on your end so you won’t have to pay!! I personally go bonkers if my internet goes out or I have a slow connection for more than a day so I can imagine your frustration!
BTW, I usually use Yahoo & AIM sometimes. I have MSN as well. So anytime ya wanna chat, we should swap screen names! Take care hun!
Getting a new or extra phone line or switching ISPs really are a pain in the butt. Hope they get it fixed with no extra charges soon!
