Easter Weekend Recap

My sister was over for the weekend, and on Friday night she and Eric colored Eggs. Saturday Eric had a birthday party to go to, so I spent the day with my sister watching cartoons and playing cards.. it was kinda boring, but it was nice spending time with her. Eric didn’t get home til around 11 pm that night, cause his friend’s mom decided they were having too much fun at the skating rink to make them stop.. which was fine, she made sure it was ok to keep him out that late first, and he was having fun. I stayed up til around 5 am because my sister had a hard time falling asleep, and then I had to bust out the Easter goodies and get Eric’s basket together. I don’t buy those pre-filled baskets. I like doing it all myself.
I also had a hard time falling asleep because I guess I was wound up, or excited about Easter.. I don’t know.
Easter Sunday was tiring, but fun. I picked up my grandma and we made the long drive out to my mother’s house and arrived around 10 am. No one else had gotten there yet.. so I spent a little time chatting with my mom until my aunt and some other family members arrived. After everyone got there, we did the whole hiding of the eggs bit and then the kids hunted eggs. After the egg hunt, my mom handed out gift bags with various Easter related toys and what not. Then everyone headed out to this tree on the side of my parents house and the kids all got in line and beat the crap out of a pinata. They then filled their bags with enough candy to keep these kids on a permanent sugar rush for weeks. Seriously… too much freakin candy. Anyways, after that we all decided it was time to eat. There was so much food.. bbq brisket, rotisserie chicken, potato salad, homemade mac n cheese, some green bean and onion dish (which was pretty good) and a bunch of other stuff. My mom even made a chocolate cake in the shape of a giant easter egg and decorated it with colorful polkadots. She goes all out for Easter, obviously. After that I sat around chatting with various family members for a bit, I got to see my uncle Lenny whom I don’t get to see that much, and who’s actually one of my favorite family members. (I’ve never told him that, but he reminds me of my grandfather so much and he’s such a nice person that I love being around him.) Since I’d been sleep deprived for days prior, I was exhausted so I snuck off to my little sister’s room and tried to take a nap.. lol Eric came in and laid down with me and fell asleep too. His snoring in my ear kept me from really getting much sleep and right when I started to drift off my mom came in and said that my Grandma was tired and ready to go home. The drive home was long, but once I got home I passed right out for a few hours. I couldn’t help myself.
Hope everyone had a great holiday, and got to spend it with someone you love.

Sounds like a busy and fun holiday spent heh. So you’re catching up on sleep now I gather?
Oh Julie, I’m trying. But with stress and I guess my body getting used to no sleep, I feel sleep deprived and exhausted. I hope this doesn’t last long. lol
Your Easter sounds like lots of fun
I didn’t do much, just bummed around spending time with my friends, walking around the city!
