Last night I went to my mom’s for gift exchanges and dinner. It was pretty fun, actually. I love my family. Yes, as dysfunctional as they are, and with all of their imperfections, I love them. I enjoyed spending time with my mom, too. I guess in my old age I am learning to appreciate her more.

Gift exchanging was fun, too. I got my mom a swivel sweeper. She loves it. Everyone liked their gifts, especially me and Eric. My favorite gifts from last night are: a sweater that my mom got me, a skirt she made me, which is beautiful and elegant, a throw blanket that my aunt gave me, and this awesome oil diffuser that my cousin Sarah gave me. I actually love the diffuser cause I had wanted a new one, but spent all my money basically on Christmas. So yay! Eric got an acoustic guitar from my parents, which he freakin loves, he got a chia Shrek from Sarah.. and he’d been begging me for a chia pet recently, so that worked out. My aunt got him this really cool “planetarium” thing. It’s one of those things where you turn off all the lights and switch it on..and you can see all of the stars and constellations on your ceiling and walls. It’s awesome.

Anyways, this morning my son woke up at 5:30 am and wanted to go and see if “Santa” came. Of course he was too excited to go back to sleep so we went ahead and got up and opened gifts. He loves everything he got. He was especially excited about his Zelda: Twilight’s Princess game and the microscope Chris got him. He’s outside right now playing with this flying dragonfly thingy that “Santa” brought. :)

Oh yeah, Eric got me a crock pot for Christmas. I have been wanting/needing one for the longest time and I’m absolutely thrilled by it. I can’t wait to use it!! :P

Gift giving/getting aside.. The best part about Christmas to me is that special “feeling” it gives you. I am blessed to have my son to spend my Christmas day with, and even though I’d have liked Chris to have been here.. I guess that’s something I’ve gotten used to. I won’t harp on the things that I want though, I’m happy with what I have. I’m happy right now, at this moment. I hope no one tries to take that away from me, today. It’s not very often I feel this way.

I promised him I’d make us a Turkey dinner this evening, so I’m gonna go check on the bird and see if it’s ready to be thrown in the oven. I also need to start cleaning the living room up, because Eric’s been playing with all his new stuff and it’s a huge mess. I am not gonna let it get to me today, OCD or not. Hopefully.

Anyways, Merry Christmas to anyone who is reading this. I hope each and every one of you are having a wonderful day and are spending it with someone that you love.

I’m having a wonderful Christmas, and I am glad to hear that you are too!! All the dinners were so much fun, but it’s nice to get to relax for the rest of the day, alone with the hubby!

I’m glad to hear you had a great Christmas with your family. Sure, families are crazy but when we can truly appreciate the time spent with them, that’s when we know life is good. And no one is allowed to take the happy from you.

I can imagine that from a mom’s perspective Christmas would give a really special kind of feeling and I do look forward to that :)
Glad that you had a good time with your family though - haha, mine can be a bit dysfunctional too, not to worry :P
