We celebrated my son’s 8th birthday over the weekend. It was pretty fun. We had his party at Chuck E. Cheese. Everyone had a good time, and all.. but I got pretty annoyed about some stuff. They rush you around, and I can kind of understand because they only give you a party table for an hour and a half, but geez. It’s not really alot of time, and for the price you pay, it kind of sucks in my opinion. They do let you move to empty booths and crap, but still. My son didn’t even have time to open his presents while we still had the party table. But whatever, he had a great time and got lots of cool gifts.

The only thing is.. he got sick afterwards, and has been sick since. Saturday after his party, I allowed 2 of his friends to stay the night.. and around 8pm my son started complaining of a headache. A little while later he had a fever, and was throwing up. It wasn’t fun @ all. The thing is other than throwing up, a little vomiting, and diarrhea, he was perfectly fine. He acted normal, and when the fever was brought down, he was playing and having a good time. So I dunno. He’s still sick today.. but seems to be doing a bit better. The fever is gone at least. Hmph.

And in site related news.. ok there’s really no “news” but whatever. I’ve been working on some new brushes, and I had hoped to have them done, but I’ve been so busy with the birthday, and the sick kid and what not.. that I simply haven’t really had as much time as I had thought I would. That will get done soon, though. I also see the lovely PLEASE UPDATE NOW link at the top of my WordPress admin page, telling me there’s a new version of WP out. Guess I should update that. I plan on changing my collective site just a little bit. I plan on upgrading to Enthusiast3, and hopefully it will be a little easier to maintain. As it is.. I have been neglecting it alot. I should really stop that.

I plan on starting my Christmas shopping pretty soon. I have some great gift ideas, and hopefully everything works out the way I want it to. I want to get a new tree this year.. hopefully something really full and just plain lovely. That would be nice. The one I have now is kind of wimpy. :( Ah well, we’ll see. I guess I should be thinking about Thanksgiving right now, though. It’s just I don’t really have to do much to prepare for that holiday, except drive to my mom’s. LOL. Thank goodness. Anyways!

I guess this is as good as it gets for an update. :)

1,5 hours? That really sucks.
While I lived in TX I kind of noticed how, for example, at lunch time the waiters just try to get you out of there asap to get the table with new people again and new tips. Crazy, I didn’t like that.

Hope your son is healthy soon, I can imagine it’s a little stressy for you too? Maybe.

I wish I’d have great gift ideas already. *sigh*

ONE HOUR AND A HALF? wow. that’s a pretty short time for a party if you ask me. normally, when me and my friends eat lunch everyday at the nearby mall from school we take about 2 hours. but at least he had fun and that’s all that matters, right?

About him being sick, don’t worry much but I doubt, being his mom, that you’d be able to do that. I’m very sickly so my parents are really calm now when I have a fever. Maybe he just got tired from his party? I easily get tired and experience the same thing for about a week.

Being a mother and a website owner is hard. So don’t stress yourself too much. Take things one at a time.

Yeah, Tx people seem to think that if they don’t rush things along they are going to miss something. Plus greedy!

It is pretty hard not to worry, but now I’m sick also. So it’s kind of a bummer. I called his school and was told that nearly half of the school is out sick due to this virus or whatever it is. :(

Aww happy birthday to the kiddo. Poor little man getting sick. Maybe it was from too much “excitement” and germs spreading in a public place like ChuckE’s. That is a really short time for a party table, ouch. They must be really popular if they charge so much and push you out when time is up so the next people can get in.

Thanks Julie. I actually called his school this morning to let them know why he was missing again, because he doesn’t usually miss school.. and I was informed that nearly half the school is out with this “virus” or whatever.

Chuck E Cheese’s is pretty popular, but I did the math and it turns out they make about 100 bux an hour off each party. That’s just some insane money. LOL.

Maybe you should’ve done a house party, but like you said, you still had fun. That’s just too bad for the lack of time.

Ugh, parties at pizza places always tend to suck. They over charge for like an hour let alone anytime after that. I’m sorry he got sick though, wonder if it was the pizza maybe? I need to get Xmas shopping done SOON. I have only a few people to buy for but I want the gifts to be really thoughtful, talk about a pain in the ass.

The party was fun overall. The kids had a great time, and so did my son. The time limit did suck, but once we moved to a different table, everything was alright. He got sick from someone at his school. I called his school, and nearly half the kids are out sick this week. :(

Agreed on both points. They are a rip off and the pizza isn’t that great. But the kids have fun. I have limited cash, too. Little wallet, big ideas. :(

Oooh happy birthday to your son! That’s good to hear that you guys had a good time. One hour and a half sure isn’t much though. That would pass by so quickly, but at least he had a good time. That’s all that matters. Sorry to hear he was sick afterwards though, that’s just awful. I hope he is all better now.

Christmas shopping already? I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas yet. It feels like it’s such a long way away. I love Christmas though. It’s such a magical holiday. I love all the songs, and decorations, and everything.

It’s wonderful to hear that your son had fun at his birthday party. I do hope he feels better soon. It sucks being sick especially on his birthday.

My younger brother got sick around the same time as your son. He wasn’t sick for long though, mosty just for two days. When he was sick all he did was lay around and he barely ate anything. As soon as he got better, you could tell because he was more energetic, and laughed often.

Lovely that your son had a good b-day. And it must be great for you to have it at Chuck E. Cheese and not having to worry about fixing food and cleaning up the mess after the kids. :P I think those parties is a great option to having it at home.

Too bad he got sick afterwards though. Was it something he ate?

An hour and a half is short for a party. 2 or 3 hours would be good enough. But as long as you and your son had fun, that’s all that matters.

An hour and a half for a kid’s birthday party? Doesn’t seem like too much time :(

Aww, poor kid! I hope he’s feeling better already!

Ugh, Christmas shopping. I’m planning on doing none of that this year, simply because I just can’t be bothered. Yes, I’m evil like that :P

Yeah, you can tell that Eric is starting to feel better. He’s eating more, and he’s up and around a bit more. I actually had to take him to the E.R, and was told this could last up to 2 weeks. Hopefully it’s almost over.

I used to love Chuck E. Cheese’s, but the last time I went for my little sister’s birthday party (must’ve been eight years ago), it wasn’t as good as I remembered. They rushed us and the pizza wasn’t very good.

Sorry to hear he’s sick.
