Ok, so I went school supplies shopping this week. Sort of. I say sort of because I wasn’t able to find everything that was required on my son’s school supply list. I got the basic stuff.. scissors, crayons, pencils, tissue.. you know that normal crap. The problem is for some reason his school requires some weird ass tablets for handwriting that are extremely difficult to find. Yes, it’s great that they promote proper handwriting, but every other district around here simply requires regular spiral notebooks. The kind that are like 10 for $1.00 right now. Our school district, on the other hand, requires 13, YES I SAID THIRTEEN, of these SPECIAL NOTEBOOKS. What the hell? So I’m going to check office depot, because I think they might have something sort of similar to what’s on his list.. hopefully. I seriously should have just bought the damn prepackaged school supplies that they sell at the end of the year. I did that the year before and it was much easier, I was just thinking that it’s a bit expensive.. but considering I have to buy 13 special little composition and writing books, I guess I should have just done it. Heh.
I also have yet to do the new school clothes shopping thing, which.. I definitely will, just haven’t gotten to it yet. We did get the school shoes out of the way. My son and I have the same taste in shoes so it works out well. I mean, he’s only 7, but he is the one who has to wear the shoes, so of course I would want to pick out something that he likes. But I gotta like it too. LOL. Anyways, so these are the shoes we picked out.
Pretty freaking spiffy if you ask me.
Now onto some lovely website stuffs. I have a new hostee. Her name is Cynthia, and I’m happy to have her. She’s pretty cool, and as soon as her site’s up and running I’ll post up the url for everyone to go check her site out. I also made some new brushes. Check those out below, or go here to see all of my brushes.

textured hearts abr&jbr set of 32 - 380kb

eclipse abr&jbr set of 14 - 92kb
That’s all for now.

Call me a geek but I always loved shopping for school supplies. I love stationery. That’s ridiculous that the school requires you to buy ’special’ notebooks. There shouldn’t be any difference!
Ooooh those shoes are spiffy indeed! I love the black ones. I think he’ll love those very much! We never really had to worry about clothes shopping before school over here in Australia. The school uniform kinda takes care of all of that.
oooh nice shoes. I love the vans.
13 is rather a lot isn’t it? wow.
O_O
nice shoes that you picked out =D
+ new brushes are always good
Who says being a geek is a bad thing anyways?
I wonder what kind of school you son goes to. I can’t even afford ONE tablet! That’s very cute that you and your son have the same taste.
Wow, when schools get picky on their school supplies then you know something weird is going on heh. Well, really, if they’re gonna require something hard to get, they should provide a place to get it. Like a list of stores that sell that type of thing. Or you can always try to order online? Hehe the shoes you got for him are really cool looking. He’s a cool kid with a cool momma!
Let me tell you something, on the list for my daughter they have Lysol, soap, ziplock bags and all these misc items that has nothing to do with learning. Ask me if I’m going to get them? Go ahead…ask.
As a kid, I love back to school shopping, then again I love new notebooks and mechanical pencils. lol
I think the school should provide the special notebooks and just charge you for it.. then again I’m not sure if public schools can do that. Hmm.
Very nice shoes, I love the black ones. ^_^
You think that’s bad, we have to buy text books for ALL of our kids at the college prep school we send our kids to. They take about seven subjects per day/school year. One of which is either participate in a sport for the school or band/orchestra. If they choose to be in a sport, you have to provide snacks/refreshments at least once a week for not only the kids, but the coaches, the teachers, the janitors, the other parents, and anyone else who happens to want to slink in, on top of uniform fee, equipment fee, and “game” fee. Whatever that is. It was just easier for me to hand Poe Micah’s violin and say, “You’re gonna be a band geek like your momma!” =) She was thrilled.
Ah, I’m glad that when I was in school, we didn’t have any special requirements for school supplies. Mainly because we got most of the stuff from the school
I love the shoes you got for your son! Especially the black ones. I wouldn’t mind owning a pair of those myself
i don’t buy the school supplies sold on school, except for the books, because they’re priced higher!
those brushes are lovely
I’ve never heard of tablet notebooks … what are those? For kids in Elementary they definitely should allow just regular notebooks because that is so much cheaper. Too bad you still can’t buy those packages that they sell at the end of a school year now. Good luck with finding those things and getting everything out of the way before school starts. I love the first shoes=]
I think that most girls/women love shopping for stationary type items. I know I do. I love getting new notebooks and what not. I used to love getting those little colored ink pens too. I thought it was cute.
The school does actually provide school supplies, but they were charging so much for them I opted for being a cheap ass and buying them separately. Trust me, I’m not being a cheapskate next year!
You send your kids to college prep school..? And fuck having to buy snacks and shit for all those people. When my son was in kindergarten I had to buy snacks like once a month for the entire class and that was it. It’s not really your responsibility to feed the adults, they get paid to be there, let them buy their own food. I seriously don’t understand how they can make you do that. What if you simply cannot afford to do so? Makes no sense. Anyways, good luck with it. I’d change schools before I went through all that mess. lol.
They do offer to sell the entire school supplies package at the end of the year still. The problem is that I felt it was too expensive. But now, even though it was expensive, I’m beginning to think it would have been worth it so that I wouldn’t have to stress over these damn notebooks. The tablets are like specially lined handwriting tablets that promote proper handwriting or whatever. Anyways, I love the first shoes too, thanks. Too bad my dumb ass ordered em online and they are too small, so now I’m having to exchange them in the store anyway!
School supplies is ridiculous. Every year my mom buys a whole bunch of stuff that is supposedly required and then the teachers never have us use it. So I’m trying something new this year, and my mother agrees. I’m going to go to my classes and see what is actually needed in them, other than the obvious pen, paper, pencil ordeal. That way we can save money and effort. I mean, I only have 2 actual classes this year anyways since I’m doing a college thingymobobber for 4 blocks and tutoring in 1 other.
Cute brushes as well ^.^
Nice shoes!
Wow, that’s an awful lot of writing tablets. Though I have to admit that I’m a bit strange. About 6 months ago Staples had a sale on college ruled composition books (the black and white speckled ones). I love those books and use them for my writing. But I have to use college ruled. So since I can never find them normally, I bought 15 of them. It’ll take me forever to use them but oh well, at least I’ve got them =)
writing tablets eh ? my school says as long as you have paper and a pen, you’ll be fine.
lol. but it is nice that they promote good penmanship. i wish they were more anal about that in my school.
Aww, those shoes are adorable. It seems like if the school requires special items for children to come prepared with they should either buy some and let you buy the notebooks from them, or tell you where you can find these special notebooks. That sounds like a huge pain. I hope everything works out okay though. Yay for school supplies.
